Brick Fundraiser Restoration Campaign
The first order of 60 bricks is almost ready for engraving, according to Brian Tanguay Narragansett Historical Society’s custodian and organizer of the brick sale fundraiser. Bricks purchased for the Society’s Restoration Campaign will be engraved and installed this summer as a personalized brick walkway to dress up the front of the Historical Society Building for phase one. Phase two will create a paved walkway though the back yard garden. In 1934 Mrs. Adelaide Howland willed $25,000 to the Society for the restoration of the building to house its collections. Now 73 years later the buildings need serious improvements. This Restoration Campaign will raise the funds needed to complete those projects. Two buildings house the collections, the Museum on the common, our main building, and the Grange hall. Both buildings will get new roofs, along with painting the interior rooms and ceilings. The Grange also needs new windows, siding, ceilings, plumbing, heat and updated electricity. The Brick Fundraiser is the first Capital Campaign the society has undertaken to help raise those funds. Bricks can be purchased as memorials for past members or for personal use at $100.00 for each brick with a choice of 1, 2, or 3 lines of engraving. Businesses can purchase one for $250.00. Forms for the bricks are available at The Country Store in Templeton center, Henshaw & Haley real estate, Tanguay Jewelers in Gardner, and the Society building. Please call the Society member or leave a message to obtain a Brick Form at 1-978-939-2303. |
